Section 08 · About
Infrastructure isa human story.
Built in the Field is a planned national publication about pipeline construction — the people who do it, the engineering that makes it possible, the business that funds it and the culture that grows up around it. It is written for the people in the trade and for everyone who has ever driven past a right-of-way and wondered who was out there.
We believe the industry deserves journalism with the ambition of the best magazines: patient reporting, serious photography and design that treats the work with respect. We are not a trade bulletin and we are not a press office. We will report what is true, including what is difficult.
This site is a prototype. It shows how the publication will look, read and behave. It contains no published reporting yet.
Our Standards
01
Verified, or not published
Every quote, figure and project detail is sourced and checked. Concepts are labeled as concepts.
02
Consent first
We photograph and film people only with permission, and we never present a generic image as a specific project.
03
Independent by design
Partners fund the publication; they never approve, preview or shape editorial coverage.
04
Sponsor content is labeled
Any paid material is clearly marked, visually distinct and produced separately from the newsroom.
